As President, Harry serves as the principal executive officer and supervises the business and affairs of the Association.  Harry also presides over all Business Meetings and performs all duties incident to the office of the President and such other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Directors.  Harry also serves as liaison to the Nominating and Annual Banquet Committees.

Nick concentrates in cases involving personal injury, legal and medical malpractice, civil litigation and criminal law.  Nick has tried over 50 jury trials and has achieved awards of over $2,100,000 for his clients.

In the absence of the President, Nick performs the duties of the President and other duties as assigned by the President or the Board of Directors. Nick also serves as liaison to the Scholarship Committee.

First Vice President

Peter is a trial attorney with extensive experience handling civil and criminal trial in the State and Federal courts of Illinois.

Second Vice President
A. Thomas Skallas                                    Partner, Holland & Knight LLP

Tom primarily serves as counsel to closely held international and domestic businesses in the manufacturing, distribution, service, consulting, oil and gas, wholesale, construction and retail industries from their inception, as their needs grow and change, through their final disposition. He counsels these entities on a broad range of issues including mergers and acquisitions, sales, complex tax planning, international operations, banking, insurance, contractual, employee and asset protection strategies. Treasurer 
Eleni Kouimelis                                         Partner, Winston & Strawn LLP

Eleni is chair of Winston & Strawn's Chicago environmental law department. Eleni focuses her practice on environmental issues that arise in a variety of contexts, including transactions, compliance counseling, and litigation. Eleni assists clients with environmental permitting, particularly air permitting, and provides environmental counseling in corporate and real estate transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, financings, and securities offerings. She provides compliance counseling to diverse industrial and manufacturing clients in all the environmental media, including designing and implementing internal audit programs, strategic planning, and permitting and siting approval. As Treasurer, Eleni is responsible for the collection, maintenance and investment of all dues and other monies of the HBA. Eleni also serves as liaison to the Membership and Fundraising Committees.

Thomas is a trial attorney for the Chicago Regional Office of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD"), litigating and overseeing legislation for the agency in the six-state Midwest Region.  Prior to this position, he was a senior staff attorney with the Chicago Housing Authority, an attorney with the Trial Division of the Illinois Attorney General's office, and an Assistant Public Defender for DuPage County. 

As Secretary, Thomas keeps the minutes of meetings, the corporate records of the HBA and a register of the address of each member. Thomas also serves as liaison to the Law Day Committee.

Corresponding Secretary
Hon. Anna H. Demacopoulos                Illinois Circuit Court Judge, Circuit Court of Cook County

Judge Demacopoulos is a Circuit Court Judge with the Circuit Court of Cook County.

As Corresponding Secretary, Judge Demacopoulos keeps all correspondence and provides all notices to members. Judge Demacopoulos also serves as liaison to the Young Lawyers Committee.

Carrie is a Partner at Kirkland and Ellis.

As Law School Liaison, Ms. Karis is responsible for outreach to area law schools and law students and keeps a diary of all past events, happenings and accomplishments of significance to the HBA.
