Thank you to all who expressed interest in or nominated someone for a leadership position with the HBA. As in past years, there were many qualified candidates and only a few open position. Unlike previous years, there are two open officer positions as Judge Anna Demacopoulos decided to step down as an officer of the HBA. We want to thank Judge Demacopoulos for her service and look forward to her continued involvement with the HBA.
As a result of the two officer position openings, two current Directors were nominated to fill those positions, opening two vacancies on the Board of Directors. For those interested in serving in the Advisory Board, we are still finalizing plans and are looking to launch in 2014.

Vicki Pappas Hallock
Vicki is an assistant general counsel at CNA Insurance responsible corporate litigation and e-discovery. Prior to that, she was a partner at Seyfarth Shaw LLP. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Illinois School of Law and magna cum laude from the University of Michigan with a degree in political science. Vicki has been a long serving member of the HBA Board of Directors having served in many leadership roles including chair of the Scholarship and Judicial Evaluation Committees.

Kyriakoula ("Koula") Fournier
Koula is an Assistant State's Attorney for the Cook County State's Attorney's Office currently assigned to the Criminal Appeals Division. She has been a prosecutor for the past thirteen years and has held various positions within the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, including the Sex Crimes Unit, the Felony Trial Division and the Narcotics Unit. Koula graduated from the John Marshall Law School and received her undergraduate degree in political science from DePaul University. She has been a very active member of the HBA Board of Directors having served in many leadership roles including chair of the Scholarship and Membership Committees.

Nomination of New Directors (2 year term)

Spyridon J. Demakis
Spyro is a partner with Cunningham, Meyer & Vedrine, focusing his practice on casualty defense with a special emphasis in medical malpractice. He has represented many physicians, group practices, and other health care institutions throughout Cook, Kane, Will, Grundy, and DuPage counties. Mr. Demakis graduated with honors in 1993 from George Washington University National Law Center and graduated magna cum laude from Loyola University of Chicago in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He has been an active member of the HBA, providing leadership and support in different areas, most recently in the planning of our upcoming "View From the Bench" event.

Dean S. Dussias
Dean founded the Law Offices of Dean S. Dussias in 2001, a boutique matrimonial and family law practice. Prior to that, he was a partner with the firm of Rosenfeld, Rotenberg, Hafron and Shapiro. He has 22 years of experience exclusively in the area of family law representing high net-worth individuals in areas including divorce, custody, pre-marital agreements. Dean is a past President of The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in Illinois.
He is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago and The John Marshall Law School. Dean was previously a long serving HBA Director, stepping down during his leadership tenure in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
